Tutti Frutti Cake

Tutti Fruit Cake Recipe

Well, as you guys know I do not do desserts or cakes. But then my wife does, she cooks amazing desserts and like me, keeps on trying new things. But the puddings she makes are awesome. However, in our amazing extravaganza on Sunday, she made this cake which came out just like a professional bakery product. The texture, the taste, the look, everything was just perfect. Here is another cake she made, the Black Forest Cake that you might want to check out.

Tutti Fruiti Cake

Tutti Fruiti Cake

As you can see, the pics do not have a full cake, because before I could take out the camera to take the pic, people had already started eating, because it smelt so amazing and looked even more tempting.

Now whats a Tutti Fruiti? We have been eating this since childhood. But what exactly does it mean? Where did the name come from? Here is an excerpt from Wikipedia. Check complete info on link here.

"Tutti frutti (from Italian "all fruits", also hyphenated tutti-frutti) is a colorful confection containing various chopped and usually candied fruits, or an artificially created flavouring simulating the combined flavour of many different fruits. It is often used for making a tutti frutti ice cream flavor."

I will straight away get down to the recipe.

  1. 1/2 tin milkmaid
  2. 1 tablespoon Sugar
  3. 1/3 cup milk
  4. 1 1/4 cup Flour
  5. Candied fruits (Tutti-frutti)
  6. 1/2 cup softened butter
  7. 1 tablespoon baking powder
  8. Pinch of baking soda
  9. 1 tablespoon vanilla essence
  10. Little hot water (if required)

  1. Sieve the dry ingredients and keep aside.
  2. Pre-heat the oven /convection at 180 degree celsius.
  3. Take butter , milkmaid , sugar and vanilla essence and mix well.
  4. Put in the flour and milk in portions and mix gently. Once you have all the flour and milk into the milkmaid mixture, whip in the batter well till light and fluffy.
  5. Add a little hot water in case the batter is getting too thick.
  6. Put in the candied fruits. Mix them and then pour the batter into a greased tin of your choice for baking.
  7. Put some candied fruits on top of it and bake the cake for 45 minutes, or until done. Took me precisely 45 mins.

That's it, you will have this awesome cake right in front of you! I don't have a sweet tooth but I must say, this is something I really enjoyed eating!
