Bread and Egg Pudding

When is comes to sweets and desserts, there are only two things I look forward to. The sweets with less sweet or any dessert made by my wife Bhavna. If you have seen the Tutti Frutti Cake she made which is on my blog, you will know how good she is with all things sweet.

On the same day she made that cake which she baked in afternoon, she made this even more awesome Bread and Egg Pudding for dinner. I have had puddings before, I have had good ones, but the flavor and taste was so awesome that I am still craving for it again. I must say, totally out of this world thing.

It doesn't look fancy, but let me tell you it looks delicious for sure.

You eat it warm, it will actually remind you of Shahi Tukda coz of the bread and the softness inside that rabri brings.

Here is the recipe now.


  1. 1 cup milk
  2. 1 cup cream
  3. 1 tablespoon vanilla essence
  4. 1 tablespoon Cardamon powder
  5. 2 eggs
  6. 4 tablespoon sugar
  7. 4 slices bread 
  8. Butter to spread on bread (as required)
  9. 1/2 cup Orange juice or Orange fruit as it is.

  1. Bring the milk and cream to a boil. Put the cardamon powder and vanilla essence. Boil for some time and then cover it up and keep it so that the cardamon and vanilla is infused in.
  2. Separately take the eggs and sugar and beat them well to mix.
  3. Pour the egg mixture into the milk  once it is cooled down. Also add the orange juice.
  4. Preheat the oven /convection at 180 degree Celsius
  5. Take a greased baking for baking.
  6. Cut the bread into triangle pieces and apply butter on the bread. Arrange the bread in the baking tin, with the buttered side up.
  7. Put one layer of bread, then add the milk and egg  mixture to it . Then put other slices of bread on top, and again pour the milk and egg mixture. 
  8. In case you are using orange, peel the orange zest and also peel the orange outer skin and place orange pieces in between the layers of bread.
  9. The bread would be floating a bit in this mixture now. Place the baking tin in the oven and bake for 40 minutes at 180 degree Celsius.
  10. The upper layer of bread comes out brown and crispy with softer juicer inner layer.
And your Bread and Egg pudding is ready. The soft milk, egg and cream mixture with combined with crispy bread will make you close your eyes and enjoy the magic.
