Butter Garlic Prawns

Butter Garlic Prawns is one of the simplest and fastest recipes I have made which has amazing flavor and natural wonderful aroma of Prawns when they are cooked.


One thing that I have always loved but seldom get to eat is Prawns. My mother-in-law stays in Orissa and cooks amazing Prawn curry. But if you know me well, I am not really curry person. So, today I bought prawns, as I am in Delhi, and thought, OK, let me try Butter Garlic Prawns.

I had the best prawns of my life in a restaurant in Puducherry (formerly Pondicherry). They were Golden Fried Prawns and I was totally bowled over by them. I never had those kinda prawns ever again.

So, with Butter Garlic Prawns or Shrimps, I did not even try to match it. Anyway, its a different recipe but It came out good, in fact too good. The wonderful warm taste of garlic and the natural taste and bite of prawns make it super delicious and the butter makes it so much glossy and juicy. It's a perfect sea food snack to be had with amazingly chilled beer in afternoon. Oh my, I am thinking of Goa here!

Let me take you through the recipe now:

Ingredients:

  1. 10-12 small Prawns: de-shelled and de-veined. This is very important. If you do not know how to do it, ask the person at the shop to do it. You can also buy packed prawns/shrimps which are already de-shelled and de-veined.
  2. Butter - 1 tablespoon.
  3. Finely chopped garlic.
  4. Salt and black pepper.
  5. Half a lemon juice.
  6. Coriander for garnishing.

Method:
  1. Take a flat non-stick pan and heat it on medium.
  2. Add butter and let it melt.
  3. As the butter melts, add the garlic and saute it for about 30 seconds. Don't cook too much.
  4. Add the prawns and cook them for about 4-5 minutes without stirring or turning over.
  5. Now add salt and pepper and mix them well and cook the prawns from the other side as well.
  6. Now add lemon juice, stir well and cook for 5 more minutes.
  7. That's it, it is done. Pour over the juices left in the pan over prawns.
  8. Drizzle some more lemon juice after plating and garnish with freshly chopped coriander. Have it with chilled beer, you would be in gastronomic heaven!

Now, tell me, which dish has such simple ingredients and so easy to cook? Its ready in 15 minutes flat. And the taste is mouth watering.
